Join my FREE Christmas co-working event next week.
Vintage carols + co-working = FUN. Everyone welcome!
Why is my newsletter arriving early? So it doesn’t get lost in your inbox this holiday weekend!
Save the date! My year-end planning workshop is on Friday, December 5th. Join us at 10:00 AM (EST) for two hours of mapping out a sustainable, joyful year of writing.
Do you love Christmas (though celebrating it may be immaterial)? Do you love vintage Christmas carols (even if you think they’re a tad hokey)? How about efficiency? How do you feel about that? Boy, do I have the event for you and it’s FREEEE!
Please join me on Wednesday, December 3rd, at 11:00 AM (EST) for the final “Pitching Power Hour” co-working session of the year. This kind of event is usually a perk just for paid subscribers, but this event is open to EVERYONE. We’ll be enjoying our regular co-working routine, working in silence, and being held accountable by the knowledge that, when the hour is up, we’ll report our progress to our peers. But this time, we’ll do it with a soundtrack: old-time Christmas carols!
If you attended my Beatles-themed co-working event earlier this autumn, you’ll know that while silence is golden, music is indeed silver, at least (Perhaps it’s even Silver Bells….) Loads of businesses have Christmas music playing in the background while work is underway. Why not us? And writing should be FUN! Yep, even the pitching.
I want to emphasize that I’m excited about celebrating the general spirit of winter, seasonal change, and Christmas-time goodwill. This isn’t at all intended to be an event which pushes Christmas commercialism (though you ARE welcome to wear a ridiculous sweater if you so choose), nor am I pushing any religious angle. All faiths, all backgrounds, and all opinions about who did the best rendition of Jingle Bell Rock are very welcome.
Some important details:
No registration needed! We’ll meet on Zoom, and things will last about 90 minutes (so that’s shorter than the Beatles-themed event and a bit longer than the regular monthly co-working session).
We’ll all say hello and share what story pitch/pitches we hope to work on during the session. YES, there is still time to send your ideas to editors this year!
To get your creative juices flowing, I’ll offer up a few Christmas music-themed prompts, but you can also happily ignore me and work on whatever pitch-related work you’re prioritizing.
Then it’s microphones and cameras off for about 60-75 minutes while we work and listen to vintage tunes from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. We’ll come together around 12:15-ish to report on our individual progress.
You don’t have to register, and you don’t have to pay. Please feel free to pass this along to a friend. All I ask is that everyone is a newsletter subscriber in some way.

So will I see you on Wednesday, December 3rd? I hope so!
Vanessa
