Five quick systems to improve your freelance workflow
Plus: How to work with me AND pitching power hour is back this Tuesday
The Clothesline is a weekly newsletter about cozy business content for writers from Vanessa Chiasson. If you’ve been reading this newsletter for a while and receive value from it, I’d encourage you to sign up for a paid membership to gain extended content and access to the monthly pitching power hour.
Ink & Income is OPEN
We are halfway through 2024. Are you halfway through your goals? Are you on track financially, with half of your desired income in the bank? Have you written half of that book, interviewed half of your sources, done half of your research?
Staying on track is HARD. Most of us need a form of external accountability and peer support to make it happen. That’s exactly what Ink & Income, an affordable community for writers, is designed to do. Members enjoy:
Three virtual coworking sessions a month (amazing for accountability!)
A monthly group coaching call (incredible for community and problem solving),
A quarterly planning day (so you never lose track of your big goals).
You can stay in the program for a few months to jumpstart things or make a long term commitment. The choice is yours and you can join or leave at any point.
The cost is just $49 Canadian a month and it’s even less right now - 25% less to be precise. And it’s even cheaper if you pay annually. If you know your writing would benefit from a sense of external accountability and community support, this is the group for you.
How To Work With Me in 2024
Dear readers, if you want to work with me for coaching and consulting, here’s how you can do it. I have a lot of options to help you no matter your price point.
Affordable Group Programs & Resources
Join Ink & Income for ongoing coaching, support, and resources each and every month. If I do say so myself, it’s pretty awesome.
Join my workshops (like my next quarterly planning day, which happens on Sept 27).
Become a pro-subscriber to the Clothesline for just $5US a month. You enjoy a free virtual co-working session (the pitching power hour, the first Tuesday of each month) and extended content with tons of advice and resources for writers. Plus: Until the end of June, yearly subscription plans are 25% off!
Need help with designing your own privacy policy? Maybe a mini social media audit? I have inexpensive DIY templates and resources on my website and more coming soon! You’ll find them at the bottom of this page.
Finally, if you’d like some help with clarity and communication for your business, you’ll love Illuminate Your Biz, which I offer in conjunction with my amazing friends Becky and Lara. This six week, self-guided class combines video lessons with live coaching calls. We open up the cohort a few times a year and we keep a waitlist for when the next class is going to take place (hint hint… One is planned for July!)
Work With Me One-on-One
Sign up for personal coaching services. I have packages of three 60 minute sessions (perfect for anyone building a business blueprint!) and one time “pick my brain” consults that last about 45 minutes.
Take advantage of special coaching packages, including those focused on improving your LinkedIn presence and those designed to help you prep for conferences and symposiums.
I’m Not A Writer! Can I Work With You?
Uh, yes please! I’d love that! My most popular package for non-writers is the Lean In To LinkedIn one-on-one coaching package.
Join the next Illuminate Your Biz course, which currently is taking names on its waitlist for the next cohort.
I Have No Idea What I Want Or Need!
You are not alone! This is exactly why I offer free 15 minute discovery calls so we can go through all your options.
Enjoy Tons Of Freebies!
Who doesn’t love free stuff? Here are three resources that all readers can access at any time.
12 Ways To Repurpose Old Content (awesome for bloggers, if I do say so myself!)
FREE travel budget template: You can download it free by clicking here. If you love travel lists like me, this is your resource.
Plus, throughout the year I offer free and nearly-free pop up workshops, share my expertise with podcasts and micro-summits, and offer PD sessions to many organizations you might already be a member of.
5 Quick Systems To Improve Your Freelance Workflow In About Five Minutes
You know systems, right? They’re the lifeblood of any self-employed person. Whether you’re setting up a sales funnel in your newsletter or… wait now. That sounds complicated. And it really can be (take it from me, the gal who has a weekly newsletter and still has no idea what this actually means). Systems are rarely a ‘set it and forget it’ thing. They’re a robust tool that requires maintenance and fine tuning.
But there are some quick and easy systems you can implement in about five minutes that will make your freelance workflow more manageable, with little-to-no followup needed. Try one or all five this afternoon.
1.) Set up templates in gmail. Did you know that when you get a random email asking about ad placements on your blog or inquiring if you’re interested in free product review samples, you can respond to that in seconds? You can set up a template to respond to all of these queries. Here are the instructions.
